Jeffrey M. Travis

 

Jeffrey M. Travis is a seasoned attorney with experience in virtually every aspect of business litigation and transactions, including, but not limited to banking, franchising and distribution, healthcare, mergers and acquisitions, securities, secured transactions, partnership, corporate, real estate, antitrust, trade regulation, intellectual property and general contract matters.

Mr. Travis earned his law degree in 1985 from the University of Illinois where he was an editor on the University of Illinois Law Review. Mr. Travis received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, in 1982, graduating summa cum laude.

Mr. Travis started his career in 1985 at Holme Roberts & Owen, then the oldest and largest law firm in Denver (now known as Bryan Cave HRO).  At Holme Roberts, Mr. Travis practice in a transactional section of the firm.  In 1987, he went to work for Bickel & Brewer, a national business litigation boutique with offices in New York, Chicago, Washington and Dallas.  In 1990, he moved his practice to the Dallas office of Houston-based Liddell, Sapp, Zivley, Hill & LaBoon, L.L.P. (now known as Locke Lord, L.L.P), where he “toggled” between litigation and transactional work.  In 1994, Mr. Travis became a partner in the firm of Caolo & Bell, (now known as Bell Nunnally & Martin, LLP).  In 1997, Mr. Travis started the firm of Travis & Reihsen, a Professional Corporation, which is today known as Travis & Inman, a Professional Corporation.

Mr. Travis is licensed by the State Bar of Colorado and the State Bar of Texas, and he is licensed to practice before all of the federal district courts of Colorado and Texas, as well as the Federal 5th Circuit Court of Appeals and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Travis was selected to be recognized in Super Lawyers, a publication of Thomson Reuters in  2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Mr. Travis has also been rated by Martindale-Hubbell as “AV Preeminent” by his peers for the last 20 plus years.

Mr. Travis recently co-authored an article that appeared in the Texas Lawyer entitled “5 Tips for Retaining Outside Counsel.”
